Karin Fernandes

Karin Fernandes has specialization courses in Portugal máster class with the pianist Maria João Pires; in England, having participated as a full scholarship at the Third Oxford International Piano Festival; in Brazil, with Lina Pires de Campos; and in France, with pianist Bernard Flavigny.

She is especially dedicated to the execution of the piano repertoire of the 20th and 21th centuries, with several pieces performed in first audition.

As a soloist she performed with Amazonas Filarmônica, Campinas Symphony Orchestra, OSUSP, Camerata OSESP, Ensemble Cairn (France), Symphony Culture, São Paulo State Symphony Band, São Pedro Theater Orchestra, Sergipe Symphony Orchestra, National Symphony Orchestra (Paraguay), among others. As a recitalist she has performed in Europe - Portugal, France and England; and in South America - Argentina and Paraguay. In January and February 2020 she made a series of recitals in Paris (France), Lisbon and Castelo Branco (Portugal).

Karin Fernandes awarded 1st place in 21 piano competitions in Brazil, among them was the first prize in 1999 in the important and disputed X Eldorado Music Award.

In 2019 the third CD of her trio was chosen as the CD of the year by the Concerto Award in the public vote. In April 2017 she was awarded as Best Classical Instrumentalist in the Music Professionals Award. In 2016 she had her CD Seresta, Choro e Homenagem a Fructuoso Vianna, with pieces by Camargo Guarnieri for piano and orchestra, finalist as Best Classical Album of 2015 in the disputed 27th Brazilian Music Award. In 2015 her CD Cria - new Brazilian piano music, vol.I, received the Concerto Award for Best CD of the Year in Brazil.

Karin has 13 recorded and released CDs. Her most recent release is a CD by Selo NAXOS in duo with Spalla of OSESP Emmanuele Baldini, released in September 2019. The CD is dedicated to Brazilian composers Leopoldo Miguez and Glauco Velasquez with Sonatas for violin and piano.

Alongside his career as a recitalist and soloist, Karin develops intense chamber music. She is a member of the Trio Puelli, formed in 2008, dedicated to music of the 20th and 21th centuries with 3 CDs recorded and released. She is also currently a professor of Piano, Laboratory of Contemporary Music and Chamber Music at EMESP Tom Jobim, in São Paulo.
