Flávia Botelho

Born in Teófilo Otoni/MG, Brazil, pianist Flávia Botelho received her Doctor Musical Arts Degree from São Paulo University in 2013, where she researched the piano works of the Brazilian composer César Guerra-Peixe. In 2001, at Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, she received a Master’s Degree in Music. At Federal University of Minas Gerais, in 1997, she graduated in Piano.

In her piano instruction, she had as main professors Berenice Menegale, Miguel Rosselini, Luiz Senise and Fernando Corvisier.

She was awarded in thirteen national piano competitions. In 1999, she participated in the CD “O Som de Almeida Prado”, totally dedicated to several works of the Brazilian composer Almeida Prado, produced by University of Rio de Janeiro (UNI-RIO).

She was a professor at the Arts Department at Federal University of Ouro Preto (UFOP) in 2002 and at the State University of Minas Gerais (UEMG) from 1997 to 2004.

Between 2007 and 2012, she worked as a collaborative pianist at CIA. MINAZ from Ribeirão Preto, participating in several projects in opera.

Since 2012 she has been a piano professor at the Arts Institute of Federal University of Uberlândia (UFU), where she works in the areas of teaching, research and extension.

She maintains since 1999 the Duo Cerri-Botelho, with the flutist Sérgio Cerri.
